New to Bethlehem? Long-time member? Come to Bethlehem Beginnings! Bethlehem Beginnings is an eight-week class that covers the foundations of the Christian faith, specially tailored for those who are considering joining Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Pastor Rod and Pastor Ben have structured this class around the narrative of the Bible, leading you from creation, the fall, God’s promise of restoration, Christ’s death on the cross, his resurrection from the dead, and all the way to the very end of the world. Along the way, you will explore how Lutheran teachings on Baptism, the Lord’s Supper, the Word of God, Law and Gospel, and other doctrines fit into and arise out of the sacred story of Scripture. After that, you will learn what it actually means to live “in Christ” as a Christian, what the church is, and what is happening in our worship services.
Bethlehem Beginnings is open to all those who are exploring membership at Bethlehem, as well as current members who are looking for a refresher in the essentials that we never outgrow! Attending Bethlehem Beginnings does not necessitate a commitment to join, as this class is a great way to figure out what we believe and what we are about. The first class is on February 16th at 9:15 in the large classroom off of the fellowship hall. Bethlehem Beginnings will run until March 30th, followed by a new member reception on April 6th at 9:15, when we will formally welcome in all of those who are becoming fellow members of the Body of Christ here in this place.
